Text Sizes

This site has been designed to allow the size of the text to be changed without disrupting the overall layout. Most browsers allow you to change the text size.

In Internet Explorer, click on 'View' in the menu at the top, then scroll down to text size and select the size you want. In Firefox or Opera, simply hold the CTRL key and press + or - to increase or decrease text size.

In addition, holding down the CTRL key while scrolling the mouse wheel (if you have one) will zoom in and out.

In Safari on the Apple Mac, hold down the Command (Apple) key and press + or - to change the text size.

For other browsers, consult your browser's help file to see how to change the text size.

Standards compliance - Valid XHTML 1.0

All pages on this site are designed to validate as XHTML 1.0. Note that due to the content management, there may be times when a specific page does not validate while it is undergoing change, but we will always seek to rectify this.

All pages on this site use structured semantic markup. H1 tags are used for main titles, H2 tags for subtitles. For example, on this page, JAWS users can skip to the next section within the accessibility statement by pressing ALT+INSERT+2.

Accessibility compliance - Level Double-A conformance icon, W3C-WAI Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0

We have designed this site with the needs of the user in mind, and are always seeking to improve its accessibility and usability. As such, the site has been designed to WCAG Double A standards.

Images

All content images used in this site include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics include null ALT attributes.

Scripts

This site makes use of Javascript to enhance the user experience. However, it has been designed to 'degrade gracefully' and still retain functionality for users who do not use a Javascript enabled browser.

Visual design

  • This site uses CSS for visual layout.
  • This site uses only relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified "text size" option in visual browsers.
  • If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.
